Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
